Follett Destiny Library Catalog (PRSD)

Need help getting started? Follow the instructions below to search our online catalog and request titles:

  1. Go to Follett Destiny Library Catalog (PRSD)

  2. Select Paul Rowe Jr./Sr. High School from the list of PRSD schools.

  3. On the top right corner of the screen, choose "Log In", then "Sign in with Google"

  4. Enter PRSD email and password if prompted

  5. Enter search terms in the box.  If desired, choose a limiter (title, author, subject, etc.)  Helpful hint: spelling counts!

    Understanding Search Results:
Look at the call number.  If it begins with a ____ it is located in the ____ section:

    Number:  Nonfiction ( of ages)
T:  Teen Fiction (suggested audience of grade 5-8)
YA:  Young Adult Fiction (suggested audience ages 12+)
Y:  Youth Fiction (suggested audience of grades 3-6):
A:  Adult Fiction (suggested audience ages 18+)
MAN:  Manga (subdivided into T, YA, Y and A)
    COM:  Other Comics
STA:  Located in staff storage room - most materials may still be requested by students.

Helpful hint:  Results may also be sorted by call number, publication date, etc.

    Too many results?
Results may also be refined by choosing which material type is preferred on the search page.  For example, book or serial (eg. regularly scheduled publications such as comics and magazines)

  6. On the right hand side of the results page, each title will indicate if it is currently available.  Holds can still be placed on unavailable materials, however they cannot be filled until the material becomes available again.

  7. To view more information about a title or place a hold, click the title.  The "Hold It" button is at the top right of the screen.

Prefer Browsing In Person? Here is What You Need to Know About Our LLC!

Nonfiction

Our nonfiction books are shelved using the Dewey Decimal system, with each book being shelved in numerical order from 000-999.  You may find the section dividers and dewey decimal posters helpful while browsing.

As in the fiction section, green spine label protectors indicate books formatted in the "graphic novel" style, and blue spine label protectors indicate that books are written in prose (poetry).

Fiction Section

Our fiction section is divided into the following sub-sections based on suggested audience, with each being shelved together:

  • Teen (Call number "T") suggested audience of grade 5-8
  • Young Adult (Call number "YA") suggested audience ages 12+
  • Youth (Call number "Y") suggested audience of grades 3-6
  • Adult (Call number "A") suggested audience ages 18+

Within each sub-section, books are arranged on the shelf by authors last name.  The only exception to this rule is book series with multiple authors.  Books that are part of series are shelved together and will have the series name and book number indicated on the spine label.

Oversize Fiction - Books that are too tall to fit on our regular fiction or comic shelves are kept together on their own shelf.

Manga (Call number begins with "MANGA") - These comics are shelved together with subdivisions for Teen, Young Adult, Youth and Adult sections.

Magazines

A number of magazines about popular topics are shelved separately.

Other Resources

We try to reserve our main library collection space for titles that will be of interest to students. Therefore, a number of resources that are typically only used for classroom research projects are shelved away from the main collection.  These resources can be searched and requested via our online catalog, Follett Destiny Library Catalog.

Colour-coded Spine Labels

Colour-coded spine label protectors can also be used to help you choose a title while you are browsing:

  • Green - Graphic novel
  • Blue - Novel in Verse
  • Yellow - Manga
  • Red - Oversize Fiction
  • Orange - Shelved in staff resource section (students may still request some titles)
